The best summer festivals in South Korea 2026
Korean summer is lived outdoors. Between July and August 2026 the country fills with festivals: mud, sea, music and lights. Here is a selection of the most popular ones so you can plan your trip around one of them.
Boryeong Mud Festival
Probably the best-known summer festival outside Korea. On Daecheon beach (Boryeong), about two hours from Seoul, thousands of people cover themselves in mineral mud amid concerts, slides and parties. It usually takes place in mid to late July.
- Ideal if you are after a young, easy-going atmosphere.
- Bring clothes you do not mind ruining and protection for your phone.
Busan Sea Festival
In early August, Busan holds its big summer celebration on Haeundae and Gwangalli beaches: concerts, water sports and events on the sand. The perfect time to combine beach and festival atmosphere.
Music festivals
Summer is the season for big music festivals in Korea, with international and local line-ups. Editions change every year, so it is worth checking the 2026 programme in advance if one interests you.
Night and light festivals
